Kirbyville, Texas Speed Traps

On US Hwy 96 coming in to town both ways the speed limit drops from 50 to 35 without warning. Large trucks travel this road quite a bit, so if you don’t know where the sign is they can easily block you view. There are no warning signs of the drop in speed. Just a small sign on the side of the road. The cops hide right at the sign and pull over anyone who is going over the limit the minute they cross the line.

At night local cops will be hiding in the dark under awning behind gas pumps of gas stations that are closed at night. Speed limit drops to 35 and they will give tickets for any speed over 39. But they are very frendly folks who may let you off with warning if you treat them with respect
