Just South of La Grange is a curving bluff road. Leaving La Grange the speed limit is 40 mph. Approaching the bluff the speed limit is 30 mph. Above the bluff the speed limit is 55 mph. Many like to speed on the bluff road to duplicate a race course and truckers like to hold their gear. It is Texas Highway Patrol jurisdiction and they will park at various places on the bluff

They like to drive up behind you. Once you get in to Fayette County on 71. It is patroled pretty heavily untill after you pass all of the La Grange exits.
