League City, Texas Speed Traps
518(West Main) @ Palomino Rd
Just before Palomino Rd going West on 518, there is a set of warehouses where 2 LCPD officers hide their vehicles in-between the bldgs while they stand w/ lasers and even watch slower moving vehicles for expired inspection stickers, cell phones in school zone, etc At certain hours this is inside of a school zone. They tag-team walking out into traffic to pull about every 2 out of 10 cars over. They do this a several times a month, between 6:00am – 7:30am, especially during the first and last weekday mornings of the month to meet their quotas. Occasionally, they will move their operation onto Palomino Rd, about 1/2 way down to the high school. Next, their trap moves over to League City Parkway(Hwy 96) just east of the intersection of Hobbs Rd (past the Elementary school) and yep, you guessed it – also just inside a school zone – where they proceed to do the same thing until around 8:30am. Finally, the darling duo sets up shop near the middle school, hiding vehicles off road while they stand behind bushes in the median on Walker Rd. Just a block north of Hwy 646, catching anything that breathes anything over 20mph from the school zone w/ their trusty lasers, or if you are going under 20mph, they have a nice, clear view of your inspection sticker etc. After 9:30, they take a little donut break at Shipley’s to celebrate.
