Lipan, Texas Speed Traps

Lipan is a small community only a couple of blocks long . The speed limit drops from 55 to 30 in a very short distance . The common practice is for the officer to be on one of the small parking areas where he can pull out behind motorist in either direction . The officer will then proceede to follow the motorist at an uncomfortably close distance without his lights on until he has effectively pushed them over the speed limit where he then turns on his lights and pulls them over . Usually well past town .

The speed limit goes from 60 to 45 and to 30 in a very short distance. There is no warning of the 30 mph zone until it is too late. It is at the curve leading into this town of 400 and guess where the deputy sheriff happens to sit. There is no warning of an upcoming speed change and the little town is nestled between curves on both ends of the 2 blocks of empty buildings. Speeding tickets must be sole source of income.

Lipan hired Barney Fife and he takes his job seriously! There are many places for him to hide. Speed limit is 30MPH. He will write his own mother a citation so watch out!
