Lockhart, Texas Speed Traps
Hwy183 north of town toward Austin & at railroad overpass
Quite often city police, Sheriff’s Department and/or Hwy patrol will be working radar north of town on Hwy 183 while parked either in the parking lot of the church or near the day care center catching speeders going both north and southbound. Since construction of the new toll road has began the speed limit is 55 MPH for a long distance toward Austin. City police work radar on the south end of the railroad overpass. The speed limit changes from 45MPH to 35MPH just as you come to the overpass.
Pecan Street near FM 183
motorcycle police – or – car sit just back on Pecan so that you cannot see them until you cross the rail road tracks
US Highway 183 near FM 20
Most of the officers in this town will pull you over for petty things, like I know a person who was cited for doing 1mph over. The city is overstaffed with police I guess.
