Post, Texas Speed Traps
On the town side of the overpass entering Post on I-84 N.
As you come into Post off I-84, heading North, the speed limit drops from 75 to 65 to 55 mph in a span of less than a quarter of a mile. This happens just as you are coming across the viaduct into town & the signs are on the downhill & outside, ( So it is easy to miss them), The viaduct is slightly spiraled & as you come to the end of it the county Sheriff is parked at the base of the bridge. I was in the inside lane & there was a row of Semi trucks in the other, I did not see the signs at all. I have a good radar detector but because the Sheriff is parked at the base it didn’t register until I was right on top of him.
Hwy 84 West
When you come over the hill, just entering Post, there is always a Post policeman or a state trooper there to catch you. There are also policemen right as you exit Post going toward Lubbock.
US 84 on the NW outskirts of Post
Beware of this area. The speed limit drops from 70 mph to 35 in a matter of a few hundred feet. It is easy to exceed the limit here because when you are driving into Post, you are descending about 1000 feet in elevation. The incline of the highway makes it easy to exceed the limit and difficult to slow down. I’ve seen many cars pulled over in this area.
