Roanoke, Texas Speed Traps
vicinity of intersection of hwy 114 & hwy 377
I don’t know specifically what people are being pulled over for, I just know I cannot go from an apartment on 114 to the Walmart, McDonalds, etc., without seeing flashing lights– either on 114, 377, or in the shopping center parking lots. It’s ridiculous. I drive that area with the mindset that I’m taking a driver license exam.
Hwy 377 near TX 114
This is not a speed trap per se, but a trap nevertheless. The cop will sit on the shoulder with his lights flashing. There will be no other cars in sight. Then if you don’t slow down to 20 mph below the speed limit, he will cite you for "passing an authorized emergency vehicle", even though the vehicle was not dealing with ANY emergency at the time.
State Highway 114
Roanoke PD will sit on the back side of a hill, with No lights on. I have even seen them over the white line. This is extremely dangerous with the high volume of Hwy 114.
Henrietta Creek Street near US Highway 377
This is a commercial area that used to be residential. Speed limit is 30 but should be 35 to 45. It is heavily used by trucks and they will get you for 1 mph over. They sit out there at shift changes for the local warehouses and get the employees most of whom are from out of town too. The also use roving officers. Be very careful on this street.
State Highway 377 near State Highway 114
Roanoke police love to sit along 377 or 114 down below hills so they can trap speeders as they top the hill. A lot of times they will stake out the junction of 114 and 377
