Rockwall, Texas Speed Traps
East Bound I-30 N. service rd. just past John King Blvd.
Motorcycle policeman sitting 100 yards up from the Highway access ramp, picking off unsuspecting motorist as they adjust their speed to enter I-30 (65mph Traffic) and giving them traffic citations for exceeding a 40 mph limit posted just in front of where he sits. For crying out load!
Various spots on John King Blvd.
Officers park in the turn-around median spots and strictly enforce the 45-mph speed limit. Occasionally, this occurs during daylight hours, but more often it is an after-dark exercise. I have seen them as early as 5:30 AM between 66 and the RR tracks to the south. This is strictly a speed-trap operation. There is no reason for such a low speed limit on a sparsely-traveled road that has no commercial activity and no houses. This road could easily accomodate a 60-mph speed limit, but the 45-limit is a revenue-producer.
Eastbound 1-30 service road just East of Townsend
Cop sits in a black suburban on a side street/driveway using laser. Picks one off every 5 minutes.
George Bush I-90
State Trooper in marked car sits on right shoulder just before you get to either Merrit Drive or Firewheel. New annex from I-30 has influx of new traffic so these scum are racking up the $$$.
Lakeshore Drive (The Shores)
Rockwall police seemingly sit near the entrance to the Shores all day, they will catch you for “rolling stops” if you don’t come to a complete stop and then wait a second or two at the stop sign. $188 fine
