Runaway Bay, Texas Speed Traps
US Highway 380 near County Trunk 1700
Hwy 380 runs through Runaway Bay, but the town is barely visible. There is open highway at 70mph and suddenly it is 55mph–no reasonable reason for it. I was trapped coming in from the west and down toward the bay area. I got on their web page and found minutes of a city meeting where the mayor was boasting of the increased revenue from the tickets.

State Highway 380 near Lake Bridgeport
When heading west on 380 through Runaway Bay, just after Lake Bridgeport, the police station sits on the south side of the road. A long curve with trees close to the road leads out of town. The trees fall back away from the road and give way to a small ditch-like drop away from the road. The officer will sit in this drop and clock you before you have a chance to stop from coming out from behind the trees. The speed limit is 55 and goes up to 70, but be warned, do Not start speeding up until After the 70 mph speed limit sign as they Will come get you for speeding in the 55 mph zone.
