San Antonio, Texas Speed Traps
FM 78 between Loop 410 & Ackerman Rd
Kirby Kops like to hide out behind the Jr. High School in the parking lot/ service road. FM 78 is arrow straight and level for over a mile in each direction, so it is easy to slip over the 50 MPH limit. Cars are all marked but not all have the light bar on top. Also watch for their Police pick-up truck.
Main entries to subdivision off of Loop 1604 and also off of Hwy 281
Watch these guys… Hollywood Park has it’s own police force and they will park in plain sight at the subdivision entry, especially after the first of the month when all they do is look for expired tags and stickers. These guys are tough, zero tolerance and aren’t the least bit friendly. My advice: find a back way in as often as possible! Also watch out for the surprise 20mph zones that pop up out of no where!
Old Walzem Road (FM 1976)
Bexar County Sheriffs running seatbelt trap on wide 4 lane + turn lane Old Walzem Rd FM 1976. Was with someone ticketed for no seatbelt while driving at night (cop has great vision!!) Fine $90. Radar is run constantly in this 45 zone (most do 60). Fine = $115 for 10 over + $5/add mph
7900 BLK ECKHERT Road near Marshall High School
2 Motorcycle police, I was told the neigbors are complaining about speeding cars and hence the ticket for inadvertantly driving 10 miles over the posted speed limit was driving 52mph in a 40mph zone, I can not recall any speed posting signs. happened at 12:05 noon 4/4/01.
Thousand Oaks
There are actually 2 spots on Thousand Oaks that I have observed. The first one is in front of the library. The officer will park in the center median and catch you coming over the hill. The second is about 1 mile down the road. The officer will be parked (parallel) behind a trailer used for aluminum recycling (it’s the parking lot in front of Midnight Rodeo). I have picked up K-Band in both areas.
