Shavano Park, Texas Speed Traps
De Zavala and NW Military Hwy
Since the intersection approaching NW Military Hwy is a hill, the cops will clock you (they can clock you from in front of you BTW) as you are going down the hill and give you a ticket. They even admitted that they clocked me on the hill. AVOID Shavano Park but if you can’t, go 5 miles under the limit.
De Zavala Rd., Lockhill-Selma Rd. and NW Military Hwy.
The entire town is a speed trap. The speed limit is purposely set too low for the reason of “safety.” I can see how it helps people turning onto the road from a driveway or parking lot, but it really is set at least 10 mph too low! It’s horrible!
The law calls for having Appropriate speed limits, not speed limits that are abhorrently low.
De Zavala Road near NW military Street
Trust me on this one, Obey all laws while traveling through Shavano Park.
Lockhill-Selma Road near State Highway 1604
Generally on the Northwest bound side between DeZavala Road and Hwy 1604. At least 3 police officers patrol this area of Shavano Park heavily. Speed limit is 35MPH. There is a tendency to speed since there are many curves and hidden areas patrol cars are waiting.
DeZavala Street near State Highway N.W. Military
Sits in a special hidden low place on side of road, close to trees, Area was improved so as to not be in mud etc. The city placed road base just for police car, as to use it like a pit stop. Fast in and out. They write more than 250,000.00 dollars in citations per yearly budget. State should look into it. This was put in place with the current police chief, an ex Highway patrol trooper. This is a very small city. Current new Mayor said he will look into it.
