Universal City, Texas Speed Traps
West Langley Street near Universal City Boulevard
A Universal City Police car sits at Universal City Blvd at West Langley pointing to the east catching vehicles that exceed the 20 MPH before it turns to 30 MPH. Also the 30 MPH is way to low and vehicles are stopped for exceeding this limit also. A speed trap indeed!
FM 1976 near 1604 Loop
Be careful when coming off of FM 1976 (just past the Loop 1604 overpass) onto West Aviation, traveling toward Pat Booker Rd and Randolph AFB. The speed changes from 50 mph to 20, and the trap is just around a bend, at the 3-way stop. They also get you coming from the other direction, as West Lindberg merges with W. Aviation going toward Fm 1976 and Loop 1604.
1604 Loop near Pat Booker Street
Loop 1604 eastbound/southbound (it changes at IH-35) entering into Universal City, just past the overpass over IH-35 & Pat Booker Rd., there is often a patrol car hiding in the median. He’s got his radar aimed at the top of the overpass, and by the time you see him he’s already clocked you. It’s not as nasty as it used to be – it used to have a reduced speed right there, but not any more.
State Highway 218 near 1500 Pat Booker Road
Police hide behind buildings and in alleyways, the speed limit sign changes from 40 to 30 with a hidden sign 10′ and directly behind a light pole right next to a stop light. For a while the speed limit signs were posted on temporary wooden posts, which were easily moved around. Sometimes the speed limit signs would completely change positions. It is outrageous. Also, the road is a 5 lane highway in a business district, most of the road is 40 MPH, just the 1500 block south is 30, depending on the day.
Good luck if you have to drive down Pat Booker.
Kitty Hawk Road
Entire length of Kitty Hawk road from Toepperwein Road (in Converse) to Pat Booker Road in Universal City is one long speed trap. Police sit in the church parking lot next to the Kitty Hawk Animal Hospital in the parking lot of the Colonial Funeral Home and in the church parking lot across the street from the funeral home. Police spend an average of 60 minutes in each location. Please be aware that Universal City Police are not permitted to issue warning tickets.
