Ashburn, Virginia Speed Traps
Claiborne Parkway South between Rt. 7 & Russell Branch Parkw
Coming over the overpass or off the exit from eastbound Rt. 7, the Loudoun County sheriff likes to set up shop in the dead end. The speed limit is deceivingly low for this wide open stretch of divided highway (45 mph) and traffic normally moves at 60+ MPH.

I see officers in this spot about 3 out of 5 business days per week, nearly every week of the last 2 years. It’s always 2 officers on motorcycles. They use some kind of speed detection device that they hold close their their face and look through, similar to binoculars, but it resembles an "old school" radar gun. The officers wear dark clothing (dark motorcycle boots and the brown Loudoun County outfit) and stand in front of a dark bush so they blend in well. They always shoot radar westbound on Lo Co Pkwy catching speeders on their way to work, most heading towards the Dulles Greenway. I’ve never been caught, but it seems as if one officer constantly shoots radar and the other writes tickets. This is seems like a very lucrative spot for them, as I always see people being ticketed.
