Burke, Virginia Speed Traps
Guinea Road near Olley Lane
Police (usually Fairfax County Motorcycle folks) are posted at the intersection of Guinea Road and Olley Lane. Surveillance is in the didrection away from Braddock Road. Cars are pulled off to the right onto Olley Lane at the entrance to Lake Braddock Community Association. Surveillance usually takes place in the early afternoon. Police would be much more effective (safety-wise) if they were used there during the morning rush when children need to cross Guinea Road (with no lights or crossing guards) on their way to school.
Fairfax County Parkway near Portside Drive
Police car sets up on median facing towards Rolling Road. Due to dips in the road its very difficult to pick him up, especially at dusk. Heavy traffic prevents rush hour speeding.
Burke Lake Road near Lake Braddock High School
Speed Trap at the top of the hill a quarter mile from Lake Braddock HS. Traps generally are set right as school is letting out and speed limit is reduced. Multiple squad cars who pull over multiple vehicles at a time.
Burke Lake Road near Signal Hill Road
East bound from Lake Braddock Secondary School, they hide at the top of the hill at Signal Hill road. Speed limit is 35 mph and you are coming out of a school zone. They will get for speeding in a school zone even if the zone lights are blinking.
Burke Center Parkway
Burke center parkway at the pull off for Lake Barton. They sit there in a little drive that can not be seen till your right on it. It’s down hill so you pick up speed pretty quick. Some times they a line of maybe 5 to 8 cars.
