Chesapeake, Virginia Speed Traps
I-64 between Greenbrier Pkwy and Indian River Road
This is an emergency vehicle crossover point, and is shrouded in green shrubs for a better part of the year. Radar detectors are illegal in VA, so you are at their mercy if you are a speeder. Average speed through the area is 70 or so, and the limit is 55.
State Route 168 from I64 to NC State Line
City Police sit under bridges (center median). They do not care about traffic flow or other safety concerns they are only there to write tickets! No warnings, no exceptions… only your money!
I-464 South
Just past Poindexter St. Exit on down side of overpass behind bushes on right hand side.
Interstate 64 East/West
On interstate 64 both east and west between the Indian River Rd and Greenbrier Pkwy (Chesapeake, VA) exits there are troopers sitting in the median. The three mile area has four lanes of traffic (with an unrealistic 55MPH posted speed). Also watch out for the use of aircraft in clocking your speed and passing info to the troopers on the ground.
I-64 288 mi.Marker between exit 286-exit 289
Va. State Police daily use marked and unmarked cars with stationary K-Band and KA-Band Dual Antenna Radar in either of 2 median crossovers at the 288 mi. marker between the Indian River Rd. Exit and the Greenbrier Pkwy Exit anytime day or night. This is 4 lanes each direction on I-64 and only a 55 MPH Speed Limit and they will ticket anyone 65 mph and above.
