Christiansburg, Virginia Speed Traps
Rt 11 (Radford Road) Between Christiansburg and Radford
About 3/4 mile outside Christiansburg. Where the passing lanes are available in the direction traveling toward Radford. Generally this 2mile section is a place to be carefull.
Route 460 right off the Int. 81 exit for Virginia Tech
There is a steep hill not far off the exit ramp for Virginia Tech when you round that first turn for Route 460. You go over an overpass and then aproach the large straight declining hill on 460. Police like to sit off to the shoulder of the hill right after you break the crest of it (Usually at night). Ive received a reckless ticket here before. Keep your speed down (the speed limit is 65mph I believe) and if you happen to pass a cop on the hill, the only exit for awhile is at the top of the other side.
Clearview Drive / Wades Lane – In the Church Parking Lot
Many people use this road as a shortcut and officers know that well. They will get in the parking lot of the Church off wades lane and tuck back behind the knoll. This really isn’t the kind of road you should be speeding on but it’s easy to do by mistake since the speed limit is only 25. By the time you see the police car, it’ll be too late. They also watch for people rolling the stop sign.
Interstate 81 near Exit Number 118 B
Trooper sits behind the median walls and shoots North bound traffic in the back. Near the Shelor Motor Mile dealership/Rt. 460
460 Bypass near Exit Number 118
Officers seem a bit hidden and traffic coming off the interstate has been moving 65-70mph,some faster, and it seems that a lot of people go down the long hill faster than 55 before realizing it. I’ve never gotten a speeding ticket, but I know a lot of people have gotten several in this location.
