Reston, Virginia Speed Traps
Glade Drive near Charterhouse Circle
Police are constantly on Glade, especially on the stretch between Colts Neck and Soapstone. They are frequently around the neighborhood Deepwood, which is atop a hill on which it is easy to gain speed. Police are usually reasonable about going 5 mph over but any over and you’re likely in trouble. Those two hills are easy to gain speed on (I drive 45-50 mph on any pretty much any road in Reston) and driving towards Soapstone there is a hard curve that I have often encountered police coming around.
Soapstone Drive near Lawyers Road
Between Glade Drive and Lawyers Road is a small area that is posted at 25 miles an hour. The speed limit on Lawyers Road is 45 and Glade is 35. Police cruiser parks well back from road or on side street.
Weihle Avenue near Fairfax County Parkway
Either direction on Weihle Avenue at Fairfax County Parkway, near the water treatment facility . Speed Limit (35 MPH) not easy to spot.
Hunter Mill Road near Baron Cameron Avenue
Two officers with motorcycles hide behind some trees at the entrance to the Reston Zoo and check southbound traffic coming from Baron Cameron Ave.
Sunrise Valley Drive near Sunrise Valley Elem.
Sunrise valley drive is downhill coming from south lakes drive. The speed limit is 35mph, however you could easily hit 50mph without noticing. At the bottom of the hill is a school zone and the cop just sits there running radar aimed at the very bottom of the hill just as you cross into the 25mph zone
