Tazewell, Virginia Speed Traps
Entire Town area Main St. and all in town roads,
Police travel these constantly. Pulled Elder Lady over, who had never had ticket in her entire life, no breaks 5 miles over after coming off interstate. Don’t believe me come and see for yourself !
Lake Witten Road
The speed limit is 35 on one end of this stretch of road and 55 on the other end. This stretch of road has a 30 mile per hour limit. There are only about 7 houses on this entire stretch of road (approx. 2.25 miles). The state troopers always wait at the bottom of a steep hill to trap you. You can’t even coast and maintain 30 down that hill so they get to write a lot of tickets. I don’t know of them giving any warnings just tickets.
Interstate 460 near Coming down the mountain into town.
When you are coming down off of the mountain which is 55mph…somewhere it changes to 35mph…the cop is waiting down there at the bottom…..now mind you, he doesn’t stop the semi-trucks who are "barreling" down the mountain and you are trying to get out of their way…I told the cop that this was a speed trap and he said, "I know ma’am, this morning the other officer was out here for only two hours and got 8 of em’"……I need not say anything else.
US Highway 460 near Divides
State Police work this area between Bluefield and Tazewell very heavly. They make few allowances for even moderate speeding. Many concealment areas along this stretch
