Washington, Virginia Speed Traps

County cops sit at bottom of hill between ball fields and graveyard. Both directions are enforced. Speed limit drops from 35 to 25 without much warning.

Heading Southwest on the Anacostia Freeway (aka DC 295), one mile past the Penn Ave exit, and just before the highway merges with VA 295. The cop car is clearly visible at the end of a long straight away sitting on the right side of the road. Speed is posted 45 mph, but traffic usually moves along closer to 65. The camera’s set to snap your picture at just 3-4 mph over the limit. The only reason this isn’t marked ‘high enforcement’ is that during rush hour you’ll need to slow down a bit at the merge.
