Mountlake Terrace, Washington Speed Traps
Terrace Creek Park
I see police officers here at all times of the day. They sit in a little grass patch where you don’t see them till it is too late. There is a very large hill going both N and S directions. This is 48th ave between 236 and 232nd
Beware.
220th St SW & 70th Ave W
This is a nighttime speed trap, for the City of Mountlake Terrace’s cruisers are black, and their flashers are a low height. Just past the traffic light at (no surprise here) the bottom of a hill, there’s a blacktopped spot that’s slightly larger than the size of the cruiser. I think it’s for the Interurban Trail, which is not lit at night. The officer merely backs in, turns off their headlights, and sits in wait for somebody who’s not paying attention to their speed going down the hill. I saw one get nabbed going westbound, but one could also be nailed going down the hill going eastbound as well, although they’d have to shoot through their windshield.
228th St SW & 35th Ave W
Brier Police sit at the top of this hill catching speeders coming up the huge hill. Mostly there at night time. Known to run plates for no reason. So it is not only a speed trap but you’re screwed pretty much for any reason. Anyone living in Brier knows not to speed. Anyone else knows to avoid driving through Brier at any cost. On two occasions in two different vehicles and two different drivers we have been followed by this cop from 228th&35th all the way to the top of atlas/barker road with their headlights off. I thought that was illegal? Then followed all the way down the hill to locust and been pulled over there. Brier cops have radars in their back windows too so be super duper careful
Poplar Way & 214th St SW
Sometimes a Brier cop sometimes a MLT cop sits in the hidden driveway right by the turn at swamp creek. There is another hot spot less than 200yds up the road infront of the Orthadox church
Old Poplar Way & 228th St SW
They sit in the tennis court parking lot. If you’re headed east on the road be sure to check how many cops are in the parking lot as you drive by
