Port Ludlow, Washington Speed Traps
approach to Hood Canal bridge
The highway 104 eastbound approach to the Hood Canal bridge has a long downhill section that goes from 60 to 40 mph about 1/2 way down the hill before you reach the bridge span. There are two places on either side of the highway they like to sit and pick people off like proverbial sitting ducks. Especially heavily patrolled during commute times and sunny weekends when the bridge is at its heaviest use. VERY easy to speed here. The bridge is 40 mph the whole way across, and they’ll get you for speeding up too soon going westbound too.
SR 104 @ Hood Canal Bridge
WSP units often monitor the Jefferson County side of the bridge sitting in the pull out just before the bridge and at the corner of Paradise Bay Rd. They have a complete 360 view of traffic coming. It’s not uncommon to see 4 or more troopers sitting there at one time.
