Port Orchard, Washington Speed Traps
Mullenix Rd between Hwy 16 overpass and Bethel Burley Rd
Heading west on Mullenix Rd toward Bethel Burley Rd the speed limit reduces from 45 to 35 to 25 as you come down the hill, go under the Hwy 16 overpass, down another dip in the road and then up a small hill. The motorcycle cops sit in the driveways at the top of the hill, inside the 25 zone, just as you approach Bethel Burley Rd. You can’t see them until you crest the hill and they’ve already got ya with their radar guns.
Highway 16
They are starting to setup speed traps using unmarked bikes and under cover cars.
This is a new thing and they are sitting on the main roads that go on or off of highway 16.
It starts near gig harbor and goes all the way to bremerton.
Bay Street- from in Town to/thru Gorst
Unmarked WSP vehicles park in Residential Driveways and in empty Restaurant parking lot. Speed limit goes from 25 leaving Port Orchard to 35 to 45 with an orange 35mph curve sign around a long stretch of road and back to 45. Going towards town the speed limit is 45mph (sign used to be posted 40mph on returning curve but missing now) then drops to 35 right at the outskirts then 25 right after.
Burley Olalla Rd
Even though the construction is done on the over pass the State Patrol still likes to sit on the east bound lane (Southside). As you approach the the over pass. There is a slight rise on the approach (northside),then a down grade on the Southside . It is easy to exceed the speed limit because the necessity to accelerate on the slight up hill grade approaching the overpass.
Bethel-Burley Rd overpass on Rte 16
At least on a monthly basis, WSP will post a radar patrolman on foot on the overpass facing South and 3 or 4 patrol cars will be in the median about 100 yards North receiving info from the radar patrolman on the overpass. Another money-maker.
