State Hwy 9 and Maltby Road Crossing near Mile Marker 11

Woodinville, WashingtonNov 04, 20060 Comments

Once only patroled by the State Police because the 228th/Maltby road on the Hwy 9 side is unincorporated. Speed traps were off and on then. Now there seems to be cops from all surrounding cities patrolling the area. Lynnwood, Stanwood, Bothell and even Mountlake Terrace, plus King and Snohomish county cops. So watch out! How can they do this? These police are way out of thier Jurisdiction! Especially watch out between the Mile 11 and 10 markers.

NE Woodinville Duvall Road near NE 178th Street

Woodinville, WashingtonJul 21, 20060 Comments

Police sit off the road and check your speed whilst in the 25mph zone. They measure your speed in one of two places. One is where you are coming around the left hand curve and the other when you are out of the curve and heading straight up the hill. The posted speed of 25mph is easy to exceed, and traffic is typically 35 or 40. A radar detector here is very useful as they shoot constant on Ka band (from what I’ve seen).

Beginning approximately 1/2 mile south of the Woodinville-Duvall Road, often see motorcycle King County Sheriff’s deputies radaring.

165th Street near 171st PL NE

Woodinville, WashingtonJun 22, 20060 Comments

Bottom of the hill (famous Woodinville-type street naming here:) 172nd PL NE at 172nd PL NE. This is about 1 1/2 mile West of Avondale on 165th (which is the same street as 172nd PL NE)… vehicles travelling down hill (going East) end up ‘coasting’ to about 45+. The posted limit is 25, due to the rural, winding, blind-corners type of road. The local King County cops call it "The Fish Tank" as in, it’s as easy as fishing in one… a sure bet to get quotas!

State Highway SR522 near State Highway SR9

Woodinville, WashingtonMar 21, 20060 Comments

WSP sits on the Highway 9 overpass (just past new Costco) and radars/lasers the eastbound traffic on SR522.

WSP also parks on the shoulder at the end of the slow lane using laser. This is just over a hill and around a bend.
