Yakima, Washington Speed Traps
Corner of Cottonwood Canyon and Wide Hollow Road
A police officer is often hiding back in the parking lot
Exit 69
I was driving over the overpass to enter the freeway heading south and noticed the WSP Patrol car sitting down the road with his speed gun pointed to the freeway.
Very difficult to see him if you are heading north as you would be traveling around a long corner that has a small descent to it.
Impossible to see him if you’re driving south as there is a large hill blocking your view and he can get you with his speed gun as you’re passing by the ramp.
Highway 12 between 16th and 40th ave. exits
usually a car or motorcycle sits in the turnaround between east and west lanes. sometimes they sit on top of 16th avenue overpass and radio to support in either lane below. Sometimes it’s city officers or WSP. Use caution because there is generally a piece of communication equipment in that crossover point (communicating road conditions) that hides motor officers really well in plain sight.
Tieton Drive near 22nd Avenue
Driving East on Tieton Drive, between about 26th and 16th, there is frequently policemen and the side streets across from the museum. Once you get coasting down the hill it is easy for your speed to creep up on you.. I have been pulled over twice in one year, in this area.

Canyon Road
On Canyon Road, between Yakima and Ellensburg, there are large White SUVs that are undercover traffic cops that hide around blind corners or in the recreation area parking lots. On the weekends, there is air enforcement as well as the undercovers. The coverage is throughout, so there’s NO safe place 🙁
