The speed limit is 55mph and is not marked anywhere along that road. Most travelers will have just exited Minnesota eastbound highway 61 or northbound MN 52, where the speed limits are 65mph. The speed limit is posted once, barely across the state line and as close as possible to the Mississippi bridge. Likely, you will not know the sign is in Wisconsin and you probably won’t see it at all, since the bridge is narrow, traffic may be heavy, and the “Welcome to Wisconsin” sign is about two miles north of this speed limit sign. There are no more speed limit markings for 19 miles and the highway is heavily patrolled with troopers hiding in several places for the next 19 miles. The fine will be a minimum of $175.
