Fitchburg, Wisconsin Speed Traps
US Highway 14 near Irish Lane
This trap is located where Irish Lane crosses US 14 via a bridge. Basically, Fitchburg Police station a patrol with a laser unit on the very east end of the bridge. This patrol is mostly obscured by brush near the bridge. As northbound traffic on 14 (AM) crests a hill approaching the bridge, they are immediately interrogated. Information is then radioed to patrols, typically positioned either below or just north of the bridge. The same scenario occurs in the PM except they are watching southbound traffic with interception patrols positioned just south of the bridge. Level of enforcement varies from occasional to high. Hours of operation seem to be 6:45-8:15 AM for northbound traffic and 3:45-6:00 PM for southbound traffic. The tickets written are through the local municipal court, suggesting fines collected remain in local coffers.
Glacier Valley rd.
One car sits at top of Glacier Valley rd., on blind corner. He shoots radar onto Fish Hatchery Rd. Second car sits on Cheryl Parkway and pulls over speeders after being notified by first car. This is very effective and lucrative. I have seen as many as three cars pulled over at one time.
