La Crosse, Wisconsin Speed Traps
Lang Dr. between Monitor and La Crosse St.
This stretch is one of only 3 ways (The Causeway and Hwy 16 being the others) to get from N. Lax to S. Lax and like all the others, this is a speed trap too. There seems to be a rotating "system" on the 3 routes as to which will be watched that day.
Hwy 33 east bound leaving lacrosse
They will sit in the Kmart parking lot or across the street at Quillins Grocery. Usually City cops waiting for speeders coming off the viaduct which is posted at 25 miles an hour. They know you have to ride the brake the whole way down the viaduct in order to maintain 25. On the east side of the viaduct on hwy. 33 they sit on the side streets far enough back so you cant see them untill its to late. Always on your right hand side as you are leaving town.
Hwy 16 from La Crosse to Onalaska
County boys are everywhere. This is a 2 – 3 mile stretch between La Crosse and the Onalaska strip mall area. (oh wait isn’t that all Onalaska is?) Losey Blvd N changes to hwy 16 and is posted at 45 mph, It should probably be posted at 55. People routinely drive 60 – 65 mph. I counted 8 county cop cars in this small stretch. Every single one of them had someone pulled over.
