Unsuspecting motorist cruises around bend in Schwantz road having just had the speed limit drop from 35 to 25 when northbound, or 45 to 25 when southbound. Usually only manned during rush traffic to and from Madison.

Columbia County Sheriff’s Dept sits in 25 mph zone in downtown Pardeeville and pull cars over in great numbers. The Sheriff’s Dept also tailgates late at night in the speed zone to intimdate drivers into speeding up.

When approaching downtown Pardeeville on State Road 22 from either north or south, speed limit is 55 mph. The limit quickly drops to 35 mph, then down to 25 mph for a short time. Columbia County sheriff dept awaits speeders at the edge of the limit zone. The sheriff’s will also tailgate/intimidate cars, especially at night, looking for a reason to pull a car over – it is harassment, no doubt.
