Calgary, Alberta Speed Traps

This stretch of road on 61st between Barlow Trail and 52nd Ave is not posted and therefore the limit is 50 km. Being a 4 lane road in an industrial area makes for some speeds well in excess of 60km so it’s a high volume area for tickets.

Eastbound Sunridge from Barlow trail. Four lane divided road feels like it should be 70 but is posted at 50. Police park behind the chain link fence at 26 or 27 st.

Westbound John Laurie as you crest the final hill before approaching the Shaganappi intersection. You’ll pick up speed going down the hill and that’s where they’ll clock you! Radar is set up at the Brenner Drive left turn lane where they pull vehicles over.

They sit behind the bushes and trees @ the top of the hill, very sneaky. I don’t know what kind of enforcement it is, but there are usually 2 squad cars and a few bikes.

Speed limit here is 60 km/h, but should be 80km/h. Four lanes wide with no residences or sidewalks. One of the most unreasonably-posted zones in the city and therefore among the most lucrative fishing holes. Cruisers hide behind trees on the east side of the route.
