Macleod Trail South of Highway 22x

Calgary, AlbertaApr 13, 20100 Comments

Although Macleod Trail widens after passing underneath 22x, the speed remains 80 km/h for 500 m before it increases to 110 km/h. The cops regularly set up speed traps for southbound drivers who begin speeding up too early, and northbound drivers who continue driving 110 after the change. They sit on the west side of the road in a small driveway, or inbetween the two highways, and have enough room to pull over multiple cars.

Quarry Park to Riverbend – 18th St NB from Quarry Park

Calgary, AlbertaApr 12, 20100 Comments

First intersection (no lights) after 4-way stop on 18th St NB after exiting Quarry Park. Quarry Park’s 60km/hr becomes an unposted 50k (nobody follows) and they always stand and hide behind the sign on the right side of the road (sometimes the left), parking just into one of those side streets. Very easy to be caught, since EVERYONE speeds along there.

Bow Trail ( westbound ) at Crowchild Trail

Calgary, AlbertaApr 02, 20100 Comments

The police officer hangs out underneath the overpass and points his laser/radar gun to the East. This is just past where the speed limit drops from 60 to 50 for the Construction Zone. They’re not always there but it is a definite favorite spot for the cops these days. I drive for a living, in all quadrants of the city– I’d estimate this trap is there at least three out of five weekdays.

mcknight blvd and edmonton trail

Calgary, AlbertaMar 12, 20100 Comments

going west on mcknight blvd approaching edmonton trail. Mcknight blvd is a wide four lane divided highway. You are going down hill and the speed changes to 50 kilo . This is nothing more than a total rip off cash cow. phone your alderman

Centre Street at Beddington Creek

Calgary, AlbertaMar 12, 20100 Comments

This is an original. The cop is sitting on horseback and has a portable radar unit. Speed limit is 50 km. through there. If you leave the subdivision going north, he often hides on the right by the bridge. You blast through and he gallops out and he wears one of those yellow Radio Shack helmets with the red flashing light on top. Could cost you a lot of ‘oats’ if you get nailed.
