Los Angeles, California Speed Traps
Sepulveda Boulevard near Between the 10 Freeway and Venice Blvd.
Sepulveda Boulevard Southbound between the 10 freeway and Venice Boulevard, there is a steep hill and at the very bottom is a school Ane a school zone, motorcycle police often hide on any of the side streets, it is so easy to get nabbed because the school zone comes suddenly at the bottom of the hill.
State Highway 10 near Eastern Avenue
Chp Hides under the bridge between 710 & 10 west freeway
Hellman Avenue near Interstate 710
In southwest Alhambra, going toward Cal State L.A., heavily-traveled Hellman Avenue becomes Paseo Rancho Castilla (PRC) at the city limit (above the Long Beach freeway I-710). The speed limit is 25 mph, but no sign is posted at that eastern entrance to the campus; it’s a block further west, near the intersection of PRC and Mariondale Avenue. Campus police park in the northeast corner of the large parking lot on your left just after you cross over I-710, almost out of view, to trap speeders. (They also are looking for speeders leaving the campus, going toward Alhambra.) The 25 mph speed limit is reasonable, but not without adequate signage. In addition, on PRC, which runs through the campus and south to the San Bernardino (I-10) freeway, drivers regularly exceed the speed limit by 10-15 mph and are ticketed frequently. That’s fine as long as there are signs at all entrances to the campus; at the place I cited, there are none.
