Newport Beach, California Speed Traps
State Highway Pacific Coast near Crystal Cove State Park
Since Newport Beach recently annexed this portion of PCH, between Corona del Mar and Lagina Beach, motorcycle cops hide in the parking area at the "Shake Shack" snack stand on PCH at Crystal Cove State Park, and "nail" you with radar as you come down the hill southbound on PCH.
Irvine Avenue near Monte Vista Avenue
Motorcycle cop sits on the top of the hill, on the bike path, just before you reach Monte Vista, overlooking irvine Ave. I’ve noticed him here about 10AM on sunday mornings. he’s very consistent on sunday mornings. I haven’t noticed any other mornings other than sundays.
US Highway 1 near Crystal Cove Shake Shack
PCH southbound between Los Trancos and Crystal Heights Drive (a bit north of Laguna Beach). Newport Beach motor officers are positioned in the parking lot of the Shake Shack radaring traffic coming down a hill. Frequently there are two officers taking part.
MacArthur Boulevard near Ford Road
Going southbound on MacArthur, just before you reach Bonita Canyon/Ford, there is a rise with the top being at the intersection. A motor awaits on the sidewalk just past the intersection, with lidar gun in hand. He hides under nothing but the cover of the dark. Once you see him it is already too late. A very strategic position.
Balboa Blvd from PCH and River all the way down to the Balboa Pier
Any time you are driving between this area and going over the speed limit, you have a very high chance of getting a ticket due to the absurdity of the low speed limit along with the many many Bored Newport Beach police! They have so many places to hide that its pathetic! The love to sit between The Old Spagetti Factory and the Newport Pier parking lot. But they love to nail people at night because you are comign home lets say and there is no one on the road so you just easily go 40 or 45 down the street cuz almost no one is on it! Well then it turns out that the cops are behind you and theres nothing you can do about it!
