San Diego, California Speed Traps
Rancho Carmel Dr & Sellars Post Office Dy
CHP has SERIOUSLY stepped up patrolling the I-15 corridor in the last month or so… You enter the commuter lanes (or are already in the Commuter lanes) at Camino del Norte and there’s a right-hand curve going downhill. As you come around that curve there’s usually a motorcycle officer sitting there with a radar gun. Be patient until you get around the curve and on the flat section and you’re in the clear
5 South at Del Mar Heights Rd
A CHP patrol car will sit at the top of the ramp at Del Mar Heights Rd watching for speeding vehicles on 5 Southbound. I have not detected any radar from these units. The officer will occasionally move further south and hide behind the retaining wall just before the southbound 56 bypass lanes appear. Usually spotted during morning commute hours.
Riviera Dr & Moorland Dr
There is a stop sign that was placed there under a year ago and there is an officer that sits on the North side of Moorland waiting for motorists to make an uncomplete stop and then goes after them and writes a ticket for running the stop sign.
On side of freeway just at the top of the on ramp from Gilman Dr. onto Southbound 5
There is a small paved path used for Cal Trans or a landscape company and a motorcycle CHP officer sits there with his radar targeting motorists driving on Interstate 5 South
Crown Point Dr & Moorland Dr
there are a couple of motorcycle cops that sit on the side street that leads into Crown Point Shores parking lot that use radar. The posted speed limit is 25 and most people go faster than that. They tend to be there in the mornings.
