Simi Valley, California Speed Traps
Heading East on the 118 right after Tapo exit
There is a CHP cruiser that hides right after the Tapo exit going East on the 118. He tucks himself on the side of the road at a curve so when you see him it’s almost too late. He uses a Laser gun and leaves his radar on while waiting.
Everyone goes the same speed but he’ll randomly pull you over. He’s there 2-3 times a week. I’ve been driving that freeway for the last 11 years everyday and he’s been really active the last 6 months. After Sterns you can resume your speed as there is never anyone there. He serves absolutely no purpose as after sterns i’m going fast up the grade.
First St. Entry Drive to Dodge & Toyota Dealerships
Almost every morning from 6:30AM on, I have seen 1-2 Motorcycle cops hiding in the entry driveway to the Dodge/Toyota dealerships. They hide behind the Dodge trucks parked along the curb so traffic cannot see them until after passing the entry driveway. Cars entering the driveway to the dealerships invariably jump on their brakes in the middle of their turn to avoid hitting these ticket hounds which causes a chain reaction in the far right lane of First St. As there is no left turn out of the drive, it is obvious the only reason for using this location is to generate ticket revenue from people trying to get to the Freeway.
Wood Ranch Parkway @ Lake Park Dr
Cops usually at bottom of hill at Lake Park Dr North. Speed limit is 45 but easy to get above 50 when going downhill in either direction on Wood Ranch Pkwy. Usually see the cops once a month, sometimes longer.
East 118 @ Yosemite overpass
CHP parks onder the overpass @ Yosemite ave. In the daytime sunlight it`s hard to see until it`s too late.
Royal Av. btwn Tapo Canyon Rd and Sequoia Av.
A Motorcycle Officer will sit btwn the trees just west of Tapo Cyn along the south side of Royal Av. picking off speeders heading either direction. The trees are perfect cover from east bound traffic and the radar meter at the baseball fields going west gives them the speed for west bound traffic.
