Arvada, Colorado Speed Traps
I36 from Sheridan to I25
At Sheridan the speed limit drops to 55, and cops sit on the side of the road or off the HOV lane ticketing speeders
W. 64th Avenue & Hwy 93
Cop sits on westbound side of 64th clocking cars turning onto eastbound 64th from Highway 93. Speed limit is 35 mph, and cars just coming off Hwy 93 are “accustomed” to going a bit faster than that. Cops are there fairly frequently so I’m aware (but one of my friends wasn’t – to the tune of a 4-point speeding ticket).
58th simms, school zone
Going north or south on simms, from 58th. there is moterclce cops sitting on the side streets. enforcing the the school zone speed limit.
Chase St. North of 80th Ave.
Chase St. used to be 35 mph, now is 25. Chase St. is a thoroughfare type road, eg. double yellow lane stripes and quite wide. The cops can hide anywhere along the mile or so stretch. I know two people who have been tagged there in the last year.
Marshall Street at 56th Avenue
This trap is on Marshall just South of the railroad tracks, where Lamar St turns into Marshall. Traveling Southbound after going over the tracks, there is a downhill stretch and a curve toward the North. The speed limit is 25 mph, but it is very easy to exceed the speed limit on the downhill run. The APD officers like to position themselves at the far end of the curve, where they won’t be spotted until it’s too late.
