Arvada, Colorado Speed Traps
Lamar St North of Ralston road (at RR crossing)
For vehicles traveling Southbound, the speed limit drops from 30 to 25 mph on a slightly downhill stretch approaching the railroad tracks. The APD likes to position themselves at the bottom of the downhill run on the far side of RR tracks where they are hard to see and can aim the radar uphill.
They are pushing hard for revenue in Arvada, so it’s good to be careful everywhere.
West of Sheridan on E bound I-76
Since the no tolerance went in to effect HP has set up speed trap two days in a row. Using a radar gun in the median and four chase cars parked on the shoulder E bound.
Mc Intyre St & W 58th Ave
9:30 PM on a Thurs evening, Jeffco SO. After the light furher south, pulls me over and cites me doing 53 in a 35. I never saw him. Says he was sitting at 58th and clocked me on radar. $155 total contribution to Jeffco’s coffers.
Wadsworth Boulevard
Traveling north on Wadsworth by Indian Tree Golf Course. Motorcycle cops sit on sidewalk In shade of tree and clock you coming up the hill. Traveling south on Wadsworth between 72nd and 76th, the cop (sometimes car sometimes motorcycle) sits In the driveway of a home on the east side and clocks you coming down the hill. Most enforcement when schools in the area are starting/on lunch/end of school day.
W 82nd Avenue
As you turn on to W 82nd Ave heading west from Simms, there is a subdivision just after the baseball field complex where I have seen numerous bike cops hiding behind the pillars using radar (I’ve been tagged once). You might just be able to see their white helmet sticking up above the fenceline. I suggest slowing down once you reach the baseball diamonds.
The speed limit along this long, straight avenue that is lightly traveled in the morning is an absurdly low 30mph, and the police are well hidden from observation. I highly suggest any motorists traveling this route in the AM rush hour stick to low 30s.
