Colorado Springs, Colorado Speed Traps
Voyager Parkway near New Life Church
Heading north on Voyager Parkway (Hwy 83), as you pass New Life Church on the right, you will come to a traffic light after the church. As you pass that light, there is a valley taking you downhill. On the right there is a sidestreet where a motorcycle policeman sits with radar (both directions!), and they pick em off anytime. They sometimes sit in the fields on the other side of the street; and I’ve seen unmarked and marked cars with radar on the cut off on the right side of 83/Voyager before Ridgeline. Be careful!
Airport Road near Lakewood Circle
There is construction going on at the corner of Airport and Academy. It is NO LONGER legal to turn left onto Airport Northbound from Academy. There is a new fire station at Lakewood and Airport (near Satellite Hotel). The street has been changed. It is no longer legal to turn left onto Lakewood from Airport. It is also NO Longer legal to turn left from Lakewood onto Airport. The signal by the fire station MUST be used. Also, be advised there is a stop sign by the fire station to turn onto Lakewood. OBEY IT. I see cops all day long writing tickets.
Platte Avenue near Circle Drive
The busy intersection has cops sitting at all four corners. Generally motorcycle cops but cars and SUV’s are also seen there. Do not run a questionable "yellow" light and do not speed.
N. Carefree Circle near Showhorse Court
CSPD likes to sit on Showhorse Court, clocking eastbound traffic on N. Carefree Circle. They leave just the nose of their cruiser showing, but when you round a shallow curve, they shoot you with K-band radar, probably POP. VERY difficult to see. Speed limit drops from 40 to 35 right there, so they make a LOT of money on that area.
South Carefree Circle near Cross-Walk Crossing
I originally posted under El Paso county, not even looking for the city of Colorado Springs… This speed trap happens at the end of the month usually. (Revenue?) Going West on S. Carefree Cir, west of Oro Blanco, they sit behind a bush in a cul-de-sac waiting for speeders. They also sit on the south side of S Carefree Circle waiting for eastbound traffic. Speed limit is 30 but traffic seems to go 35-45mph around rush hour.
