Colorado Springs, Colorado Speed Traps
Airport Road near Audobon Road
Airport road near Academy Blvd; I drive it every day to work and as is so common in Colorado Springs, there is constantly excessive use of motorcycle unit speed traps in a high traffic area with speed limits posted too low.
Powers Boulevard near Fountain Boulevard
Colorado Springs city police will either have a police car with radar a mile or two north of Fountain Blvd. and up to 5 Springs police motorcycles waiting for you at the Fountain Blvd. intersection or they will all be at the intersection waiting for southbound traffic usually in A.M. in rushhour.
Vindicator Drive near Owl Rdige Drive
Cops hiding behind bushes at Ute Valley park and at the school across from Owl Ridge Drive catching people driving downhill. unless you ride your brakes it is almost impossible to go 35mph. Tickets are never given going uphill. There is a city councilman that lives nearby and they city council has been complaining about loss of ticket revenue in their budget meetings.
Academy Park Loop near S. Academy Boulevard
Two motorcycle LEOs sitting in an industrial parking lot on the west side of S. Academy just before Academy Park Loop. They were shooting southbound traffic with what LOOKED like MPH Z25 or Z35 K-band radar guns, possibly using POP mode, which is very hard to detect by radar detectors. This was at 1:00 p.m. on a Thursday, but the people in the building told me they use that location all the time.
Powers Boulevard near Woodmen Road
There is a construction zone at the intersection of Powers and Woodmen. State Patrol and local CSPD will sit at varying locations and clock traffic to enforce the 40mph limit in this construction zone. HEAVY ENFORCEMENT.
