CSPD will sit in the center median of southbound or northbound Powers Blvd just south or north of Platte Ave. Location varies slightly. They shoot instant-on k-band radar. Usually have a motorcycle LEO in the median with 2-3 chase vehicles.

E. Bijou Street near Iowa Avenue

In the Memorial Hospital parking lot on E. Bijou, sitting back a bit but in sight, are normally two CSPD cars. This point of view affords a good look up the hill. Another spot a CSPD car is commonly found sitting is across this same lot between two buildings.

Police park back from stop sign on Prairie South of Cache La Poudre clocking either direction. I have seen them there regularly

Roller Coaster Road near East Baptist Road

Colorado Springs, ColoradoJul 27, 20070 Comments

The posted speed limit on this 2-lane N-S road is 35 … every day I get passed by folks doing 45 or more. County Sheriff has been seen parked on Reveille Dr facing west, in good concealed position perpindicular to traffic. Clever.

Union Boulevard near Roy Heights Drive

Colorado Springs, ColoradoJul 24, 20070 Comments

The officer sits in a residential townhome street that Fronts Union. At this point on Union, it is a 20-25% grade downhill. One must break the entire way down the hill and that is not enough to remain in the 40 MPH speed limit posted. The officer is hidden and mid way down the hill so that all vehicles are at their fastest albeit, breaking down this hill. Had he gone to the next block where the road goes uphill, getting speeders at that point, they would be getting those that truly speed and not the ones attempting to drive the speed limit. Also, another consideration that an officer should take into account is the weight of a vehicle as the heavier the vehicle, the faster the vehicle will go down hill.
