Colorado Springs, Colorado Speed Traps
Platte Avenue near Circle Drive
Usually 2 motor cycle officers posted on the N.E. and the other on the S.W. corners. It appears the primary objective is light jumpers and improper turns while I am sure they are running the radar guns at the same time. From their vantage point both N and S and E and W traffic can be tagged easily. I’m so used to seing them there that I automatically check em out.
Interstate 25 near Mile Marker 145
South end of I-25 construction zone. Motorcycle police sit on overpass. The police officer who stopped me told me that 2 cops were disguised as construction zone workers w/radar guns. There was NO one working in the construction zone which was in the middle lanes surrounded by cement block structures.
Woodmen Road near Stinson Road
Motorcycle officer hides on a side street off westbound Woodmen Rd. (spotted in multiple locations between Lexington Rd. and Academy Blvd). This is a steep, straight decline, so motorists consistently coast down this hill at about 10mph over the posted limit, which is 45mph.
Voyager Parkway near State Highway 83
I haven’t been busted by this one, but there are regularly two motorcycle cops that hide in the bushes at Voyager & Jet Stream Dr (some say a patrolman hangs out regularly at Voyager & Longs Peak, too).
Remember folks, if you see one officer on a bike, there IS another one hiding out.
Academy Boulevard near Meadowland Road
MC Cops utilize the fence next to the Fire station on the north west corner of the intersection. They run laser and watch for people to run the light.
