Joandy Rd Between Atlantic and Girvin

Jacksonville, FloridaMay 05, 20100 Comments

Joandy (speed limit 30 MPH) goes through a few subdivisions along this route and approximately midway between Atlantic and Girvin, JSO frequently puts up a trap. It can be anytime during the day, weekdays or weekends and is normally a policeman on foot (holdng a radar gun) with either motorcycle or patrol cars helping. I have seen as many as 4 cars pulled over at one time.

Beach Blvd & Grove Park Blvd

Just as your turning onto Grove Park Blvd there sit motorcycle cops just waiting to get you. Speed limit is 30 mph. They sit just on the right side on a bend in the road with their speed radar.

Cortez Road (between Brookview and Beach )

Police often wait in the the parking lot of a small church there (Igresia Salavacion
(this is also where a "Drop back in academy " is located)) with radar to trap speeders- The speed limit is 30 down the entire stretch of the road. I’ve seen them there many times, but there is no regular schedule, so it is best tto just be aware any time you are on that road.

South on I-95 just past Baymeadows Exit.

Jacksonville, FloridaApr 15, 20101 Comments

The speed trap is step up on the South Side on Ramp to I-95. As you are going South on I-95 and just pasted the Baymeadows Exit, you will come up on an underpass. Sitting on that Ramp are the police with their radar guns. It’s typically hard to see them when the sun is in your eyes.

Roosevelt Blvd (US 17) between Edgewood Ave and NAS JAX

This entire strip is known to local LEOs as a "cherry patch"; they can meet the day’s quota very quickly. Navy base personnel, college students going to class, and large commuter volumes North and South at rush hour each day. Risk of a ticket has greatly increased since the City of Jacksonville announced a $22 million budget shortfall due to (are you ready?) huge cost of paying police and firefighter pensions! (Police are under "unofficial" orders to generate as many fines as possible to maximize City revenues). Judges rubber-stamp citations and add hefty court costs to finance the palatial new courthouse. Usual result for disputing a ticket is to increase your costs dramatically. They want your money, and are not interested "justice" or "safety" .
