Jacksonville, Florida Speed Traps
Interstate 95 from I-295 south of town to Sotuhside Blvd. (SR. 115) about a 3 mile stretch
I drive this route. There is construction in this area. Drivers traveling from the north toward Daytona Beach and I-295 from Baymeadows Road may see several police radar, mainly state troopers (FHP) marked cars, unmarked suv’s and motorcylces. A common hiding place is on the Southside Blvd. overpass over I-95 (It is impossible to see coming from the North) and may see them at last minute coming from south. Also, there is a small opening in the median between I-95/295 merger on south end of town. FHP (troopers) and local JSO like to hang out and shoot (with a radar gun) passing motorist. I have a radar detector so I know they are using laser. They also like to use flash radar. They love this area because it turns into a construction area south of Southside Blvd. There are so many tourists to catch offguard.
Baymeadows off of 9A
Law enforcement officers drive around in unmarked cars with tinted windows, sometimes even aftermarket wheels, with strobe lights built into regular light housings and inside car. I’ve even seen a Black 2001-2002 MonteCarlo SS with limo tint pulling people over.
I-295, San Jose/Old St. Augustine Road
Saw a silver Ford Explorer/Expedition, with a cop in plain clothes pulling over a Camry around 1pm. COMPLETELY UNMARKED. I would have had no idea, he has some lights in his front grille, but this is a real sleeper, look out!
School Speed Limit areas
Since school started, they are radar trapping the school speed zones around Duval County. I hit one this afternoon on Spring Park road coming from Emerson to Beach, but there have been others. This was a statie on a motorcycle with a Jax cop in a cruiser.
Race Track Rd.
County officers will travel up and down Race Track Rd. between the Julington Creek Cemetery and Russel Samson Rd. They will use radar and clock travels from the opposite direction. I have never passed an officer here goin the opposite direction without him/her turning around for me. Enforcement light. At Cemetery: State troopers will set up several yards into the cemetery entrance, hidden by a large, unmarked container truck. Several officers dressed like construction workers pretend to operate surveying equipment, but are infact operating LIDAR equipment. Enforcemtn very high and strict here.
