Oviedo, Florida Speed Traps
McCulluch Road near Alafaya Trail
If you travel down McCulloch off of Alafaya Trail the road is 30MPH and there are always policemen sitting in the churh lot or on Motorcycles near the powerlines in the parking lots. 2-3 days a week!
Alafaya Woods Boulevard near State Route 434
There have been multiple sightings of speed traps along Alafaya Woods Blvd. One is behind the bank at the corner of 434 & Alafaya Wds Blvd. Another is in the playground parking lot or Stenstrom School Parking lot
Alafaya Woods Boulevard near State Route 434
This trap involves Alafaya Woods Boulevard between Alafaya Trail and Alexandria. This is a 4 lane non divided roadway. The traffic flow here is loght to moderate and there have been no considerable accidents. Some idiot with the City of Oviedo decided to lower the speed limit from 30 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour. How stupid! The two lane side streets through residential areas with children present, etc is also 25 miles per hour. This stretch of roadway drops from 30 mph to 25 and you guessed it …. there sits Oviedo’s lowest — running radar. I very strongly suggest: Instead of Alafaya Woods Blvd. drive Alexandria and then turn onto the Blvd. This helps you miss almost all of this unneeded low limit. Also, take Mitchell Hammock to the Blvd. and turn there, again you avoid this trap. The really stupid aspect to this: there are other similar areas with more traffic– but higher speed limits. Remember in FL — they can stop you for 1 mile over the limit — but they can not write you for 5 miles or less over the speed limit. They can write secondary violations however.
State Route 419
On 419 from Oviedo heading toward Chuluota or SR 50…and vice versa, there are always Oviedo Police. Mainly in the morning and in the evenings.
State Highway 434/Alafaya Trail
Two patrol cars parked in the median in both directions; Alafaya Trail between Mitchel Hammock Road and Chapman Rd. Not usually there, but there this morning.
