Sarasota, Florida Speed Traps
US Highway 41
Right across from the old Sarasota High School on U.S. 41 bike deputies will sit there and laser or radar traffic. Be cautious around that area.
Fruitville Road near McIntosh Road
Beware of school zone, in front of Cardinal Mooney High School. The speed limit is normally 45, but only 15 mph during morning and afternoon school hours. City police sit in nearby driveways with radar, or drive along in unmarked vehicles.
Although I fully agree with school zone enforcement (and many motorists fly through there!), there is one element of trickery where you should be careful — the traffic light for the school entrance. When it turns green you have the natural urge to accelerate, but you have to remember to remain under 15 for the next block or so.
Webber Street near Cattlemen and Lalani Blvd.
There is a speed trap on the new section of Webber st. If you are heading west on Webber from Cattleman Rd., there is a speed trap in between Cattleman and Lalani Blvd. The speed limit goes from 40mph to 35mph you need to slow down at the small bridge on Webber Because 5.0 is sitting on the left hand side of the road heading west. Be careful.

Proctor Road near Beneva Road
On Proctor Road, between Beneva and Swift, cops often park their cars in the Unity Church parking lot. The church parking lot is covered in trees, making it a prime hiding place for cops. The church is located near the 35-MPH Curve on Proctor.

Interstate 75 near Exit Number 210
Look out for the bushy area in the median between University (J213) and Fruitville (J210) on the I75. There are several gaps where FHP sit in a car in the middle and monitor vehicles going both North and South. You can only see them when you are almost on top of it and this causes some people to brake suddenly so keep your distance. I have seen them at all times of the day and passed many unlucky souls who have been stopped further down the road.
