Chicago, Illinois Speed Traps
Lake Shore Drive near Interstate I-55
Chicago Police are not known for shaking down motorists like New York or LA, but I often see police with radar guns attached on LSD
Smith Road near Powis Road
West Chicago Patrol cars will sit in the Elementary School parking lot approximately 150 ft back from the exit drive. Difficult to notice if you are not aware of the situation. Posted speed limit is 40 MPH.
Interstate Stevenson 55 north near Ashland Avenue Exit
Exiting the Ashland ave exit ramp from I-55 north. Ill. State troopers are randomly flagging down cars as they pull up to the stop sign below the viaduct. There checking for suspicious vehicles especially on older cars. Your basically trapped since there is no way out of the situation once you have committed to exiting for Ashland Avenue.
Kedzie Avenue near Roscoe Street
Not only is there a K-Band radar going off, they often sit at the Roscoe Street westbound(facing Kedzie) and if your tires don’t roll back as you hit the stop, you get tagged with that. You CAN NOT SEE HIM until you pass the Stop Sign.
Mount Greenwood Road
This 1 is different, there is absolutely no enforcement in Mt. Greenwood it’s like CopLand here but it’s out of control.
No one stops for stop signs & kids do 40-50 mph on the side streets because Daddy will make sure it’s taken care of.
Not a good situation.
