Indianapolis, Indiana Speed Traps

This is for the southbound Shadeland Avenue travelers. On occation, I’ve seen a cop with a radar run standing at the edge of a parking lot flagging people in to the parking lot to get their ticket. (Got a ticket the 1st time.)

Motorcycle officer sits on the inside of the southbound side of I465 with a hand held radar gun. I see him two to three times a week between 8 and 9am.

At the bottom of the Emerson Av. hill just South of the intersection of Raymond Av. IMPD motorcycle officers park on the East hand side of Emerson and run radar on the North-bound traffic. Sometimes they stand in the middle of Emerson Av. too.

Westbound I-465 on the south side, right near SR 37. When you come over the hill, motorcycle cop is sitting on the left shoulder with a radar gun. He’ll even hop into the lane thinking you are looking back and wave you over. This has been around 9am and probably earlier than that too.

A one block area in front of Manual High School. The speed limit for the street area before and after the one block trap area is 40 mph from the south and 45 mph from the north. The 25 mph sign is posted right at the start of the block. The street is dual lane on both sides. The traps are set at various times and on various days, no apparent pattern. The trap is manned by a number of officers, walking into the street to flag down cars, after a radar (car or hand held) identifies the violater.
