Indianapolis, Indiana Speed Traps
Brookside Boulevard near Rural Street
Just east of rural motorcycle policeman sits at top of hill, around a curve. He can not be seen until you are upon him.
US Highway I-465E near Interstate I-70
Just south of the I-70 interchange the state police will be sitting under or near the overpass in a car or motorcycle.
Interstate 865 near Interstate 65
Unmarked or marked cars, State police I think, sit in center of meridian just before hill leading onto/off of 65. Seem to be there alot at night, but have seen them all times. Catch you if headed west just after you crest a hill. Too late when you see them.
Interstate 465 Beltway near Construction areas general
Construction is virtually present on some part of I-465 all throughout the year. The State of Indiana sets active construction zone speed limits of 45MPH on Interstate highways, both urban and rural. Although traffic is rarely enforced strictly on I-465 in general, enforcement is very strict in construction zones, namely during active periods, indicated by flashing lights on the 45 speed limit signs (or all the time when there are no lights at all on the sign). Please note that there is almost ALWAYS a cop sitting a quarter mile or so from each end of each active construction zone. I have seen people pulled over for 50-55, which is especially nasty when the area between Pendleton Pike and I-70 East has construction, namely due to the reasonably tall and steep hill/valley at Shadeland Ave.
Interstate 465 Eastbound near South Street
When going from South St (31) southbound and entering the onramp to 465 East, You must merge into the fast lane of 465. Officers have a tendency to sit on the side of the road and radar traffic merging in. It’s easy to get caught speeding when you have to match or exceed the fast lane speed to merge before you run out of road… Be careful!
