Olathe, Kansas Speed Traps
College Boulevard near Ridgeview Road
The bridge on College BLVD between Ridgeview and Woodland Roads has just been reopened after being widened and built over the tracks. There were still limited lanes open and therefore it is still a work zone. I drove thru and they had multiple vehicles pulled over. this was on 12/21 around noon.
Pflumm Street near 151st Street
Approximately 2 blocks North of the Executive Airport, there is constant patrol via motorcycle. The Olathe Police monitor this trap about twice per week but when they are hungry, you could see them almost daily for that week.
Warning, this site is hot. The motorcycle cop has clear visibility for about two blocks each way.
135th / Sante Fe Crossing near Mur Len Street
This is a wonderful speed trap. I am a victim (and I live in the area) and tried to fight it without success. In the mile East of Mur Len, police patrol this area Daily. The speed limit is 35mph in this area but on both sides of the Kohl’s area, the normal speed limit is 45mph. Don’t bother trying to beg for mercy or jeopardize your honor, these cops will grab you for a few miles over.

Interstate 35 near 151st Street
This speed trap is located in Olathe Kansas (Johnson County) on I-35 south-bound, south of 151st street (Great Mall) and north of the semi-truck weigh-station (about a 3 mile stretch). This is an incredible speed trap. (I can’t believe it’s not already on this website.) It is run by the Olathe police department and isn’t set up very often but when it is, it is huge! Today, going north-bound, I counted 9 cruisers, 4 motorcyles, and 2 SUVs that had someone pulled over, I saw 2 more cruisers sitting on the 151st street ramp waiting on their radios for a chance to pounce. And I saw all this with just One Pass! I’d be surprised if they didn’t have 20+ vehicles involved. They may be doing this today (or this week) to cash in on all the Kansas City traffic headed to Gardner for the Johnson County Fair. I wasn’t stopped. I’m putting this here because while I don’t have a problem with the service our public servants provide our communities, I do have a real problem with the predatory practice of speed traps.

Cedar Street near S Clairborne Rd Street
On Cedar Street by Clairborne and Mur-Len speed limit is 25mph mostly and 10 mph in a very slight curve. Olathe Police use motorcycles, cars and indivudal police – using Hand held and vehicle Radar. They can be there anytime but most likely during the rush hours. The speed limit is unreasonably low for conditions. Some vehicles can and do coast faster than 25 mph on this street be very careful. I have not got a ticket there but have seen many handed out.
