Olathe, Kansas Speed Traps
Road out by the lake by Paola Armory
I have gotten 2 tickets in this same area I have been both times heading south and the police hide at the armory or behind the old embroidery business where you can’t see them. It will be 45 mph then right where they sit it goes to 35, so if you don’t slam on your brakes you get a ticket. The cop told me I was going 40 in a 35 I questioned getting a ticket for 5 over (I had someone on the phone that was sitting on my lap where he didn’t know they were on there) they heard the exact same thing he said it twice and when I questioned 5 over again he said “I said 48mph” even though he agreed twice to the 5 over and it’s a 175.00 ticket. I am born and raised in this town so I take pride in it but the cop that pulled me over both times almost a year apart is a jerk. I’d just stay away from the town altogether because I can guarantee you that the cop that pulled me over will never give anyone a break even 5 over and is the biggest jerk I’ve ever met.
151st St. Between Pflumm & Blackbob
The police like to sit at the entrace of the Girls Softball fields during morning and evening rush hour. I see them about every two weeks. The speed limit is 40 mph through there and often in the mornings many are driving 50 mph.
I-35 Northbound (Big speed trap)
Coming from Wichita/Gardner side on I-35 N (northbound) big speed trap as soon you enter Olathe. One officer sitting on an overpass and flagging cars while a huge number of cop cars are stopping and ticketing. I counted 6 police cars on northbound HW. Be warned and be very careful.
Ridgeview Street near Harold Street
Speed Trap is at the North end of the Washington Elementary school zone on Ridgeview Rd. between Harold and 123rd St. Motorcycle cops and cruisers parked in the apartment complex so they’re out of site. Cops radar on foot and walk out into the street and motion people into the parking lot.

Woodland Drive near College Boulevard
Cruisers and Motorcycle cops like to sit at the top of the hill between 119th St. and College Blvd. on Woodland. They get a great view both directions (2 blocks north and at least 5 blocks south) of traffic. It’s a 40MPH zone but we creatures of habit tend to drive like it is a 45MPH zone (and push the edges too far). They are very hard to see sitting on the side street until it is way too late. I would say once every two weeks they work it fairly hard.
