Baton Rouge, Louisiana Speed Traps
Nairn Street (between Bawell and Perkins Road)
Approaching from Bawell, this busy intersection is a 3 way stop situated in a school zone. There is no signage on Nairn to remind of the school zone. After several successive stops at the sign, it is easy to forget as the school is an alternative school (for kids suspended from their regular schools). Set back from the street, chool looks abandoned as it is very rundown and surrounded by a high chain link fence topped with barbed wire. Kids are never in sight as they are in lockdown upon arrival. Cops stand on right side with radar.
Stanford Ave southbound
Right after S. Lakeshore Drive if you’re driving south on Stanford towards LSU the speed limit drops suddenly to 30mph. The sign is obscurred by trees and by the time you see it it’s too late to hit the brakes quick enough to slow down. I succesfully fought it with a picture of the sign taken from my truck.
Florida Blvd. and Downtown Railroad Tracks
Two police officers stand there with radar gun citing violations for people traveling with traffic and those travelling at the same speed as other police officers traveling on the same road.
In the Parking Lot of Wal-Mart on Siegen Lane
Those sneaky cops stay right by the door of Wal-mart running radar! They will totally lie and say you were going 50 in a 15 mile per zone on private property. Fines are through the roof. I showed up at court and the officer didn’t so I got off without a problem. I think that is the trick.
US Highway 190 East near Interstate 110
The Baton Rouge City Police sit in the shadows under the I-110 overpass shooting East bound traffic with laser. The speed limit is 50mph in an area that looks like it should be 60 or 65 mph. They just walk out and flag vehicles down to stop.
